Natsuno Hiraiwa

I found this book a while ago at Kinokunia Book Store and was just so inspired by her creativity! She is a graphic designer who studied fashion in Paris. In her book, you will see very simple and interesting geometric-shaped pieces of clothes that are quite beautiful. I could not find many images from this book online, (sorry my scanner is not working at the moment) but I made a vest for my friend's birthday once, and it was so simple to make. (It is the one that is shown right above. It is basically a donut-shaped vest when it is spread flat. To wear it you put your both arms in the donut hole. Does this make sense?) Check out her website and enjoy her beautiful creations! (Scroll down all the way to see her image library.) I put some images from her past collections here.

She also takes beautiful polaroid photographs!

Hi I also just found her book shape shape and am going to make the garment you featured. How do you find the sizing of her patterns?

I used the pattern that came with the book as the base and I adjusted it to fit my friend. I recommend you make a copy of the original first and then either scale it big or small. It is such a simple shape to begin with, so I think you can do the rescaling very easy. Good luck!

Hi, can you tell me if the pattern to the pants on the cover of the book Shape Shape are in the book? And if not, do you know where I could get that pattern? Thanks!

Hi Kara, Unfortunately the pattern of the pants on the cover is not in the book. However she has a pattern of different drawstring pants in the book. Hope this helps!

Sigh... Searching for a pattern for the pants on the cover of the book. They're amazing. Also the ones (brown I think) she's wearing above are nice too. If anyone knows where to find that pattern I'd be grateful! Or something very similar? Thanks for the info!
